Ranunculus Romance™ Ferrand
If you’re after a soft pink that doesn’t disappear into the background, Ranunculus Romance™ ‘Ferrand’ is a very good place to start. It has that gentle, romantic colour people look for, but with enough depth to actually show up in the garden.. The flowers are full and well-formed, opening into tight, layered rosettes that look a little like small roses. The colour sits somewhere between blush and warm pink, and it shifts slightly depending on the light, which gives the blooms a more natural, less flat appearance.. ‘Ferrand’ is part of the Romance series, a range developed specifically for stronger garden performance and cut flower use. The stems are thicker and more reliable than standard ranunculus, so the flowers hold themselves well outside and last properly once picked.. Why it’s worth growing. Large, full blooms with a classic rosette shape. Soft blush pink with a bit of warmth and variation. Strong stems that don’t flop easily. Very good as a cut flower, with a long vase life. Produces multiple stems from each corm. This is a variety that works just as well in the border as it does in the cutting patch. It mixes easily with other spring colours, especially whites, creams and softer pinks, and brings a calm, balanced feel rather than something overly bright.. A bit more about the Romance series. These aren’t seed-grown ranunculus. The Romance types are selected and grown from clones, which means more consistent plants, larger flowers and sturdier stems. You get a more reliable result across the whole planting, rather than a mix of sizes and shapes.
